Last school year, Central Bucks School District began an important community conversation about the impact of screen time and digital media on young people’s lives, according to a news release.

As that dialogue continues, the district is inviting families to a showing of “Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age” on Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. in the Lenape Middle School auditorium at 313 W. State St. in Doylestown.

The event is open to all Central Bucks parents/guardians and middle and high school students, the district said. Students must be accompanied by an adult and childcare will not be available.

The event is free-of-charge and no pre-registration is required.

"Growing Up in the Digital Age" takes a deeply personal and relatable look at the challenges physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston faced with her own kids and screens, and how those struggles affected family dynamics, learning, and mental health, according to the release.

Dr. Ruston meets with families, educators, and experts to explore social media, gaming, academics, and internet addiction, offering insights and practical strategies to help adults support kids in navigating the digital world and finding balance, the school district said.

The Nov. 18 screening is the third event in the district’s ongoing focus on digital wellness, following the March presentation of "Screenagers: Elementary School Age Edition" and the May "Screen Sense" panel discussion featuring educational and medical experts, according to the release.
