A traffic stop in Warrington Township earlier this fall led police to uncover a stolen Tesla and narcotics, according to police, with a warrant now issued for the suspect.
On Sept. 11, 2025, an officer observed a Tesla exiting the Hampton Inn parking lot without a registration plate. The driver, identified as Evans Jean, 27, of Union, New Jersey, pulled into the nearby Walmart lot, exited the vehicle, and attempted to distance himself from the stop, police said.
When the officer requested identification, Jean allegedly demanded to know the probable cause for the stop and provided several false names and dates of birth. He was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters, where his true identity was confirmed.
Jean was later released pending further investigation.
The Tesla was seized after Jean was unable to provide proof of ownership, police said. Investigators later determined the vehicle had been stolen from a Tesla dealership in Springfield, New Jersey, sometime between Aug. 27 and Sept. 11, 2025.
A search warrant executed on the vehicle revealed narcotics, police said.
An active warrant has since been issued for Jean in connection with the incident. He faces multiple charges, including counts of felony receiving stolen property, misdemeanor false identification to law enforcement and misdemeanor drug possession, driving while suspended, operating an unregistered vehicle, and failure to maintain financial responsibility, according to charging documents.
