Democrats have won five out of six open seats on the Perkasie Borough Council, securing a 7-2 majority on the body.
In Ward 1, Democratic newcomer Lilli Benner and Republican incumbent David Worthington defeated Democratic newcomer Stephen Nathan and Republican newcomer Csaba Lorinczy. Benner topped the field with 593 votes, followed by Worthington with 583 votes, Nathan with 548 votes and Lorinczy with 494 votes.
In Ward 2, Democratic newcomer Jaclyn Cornelius defeated Republican newcomer Joel Nieto by a vote of 571-430.
In Ward 3, Democratic newcomers Joseph Green and Collin Garr defeated Republican incumbents Scott Bomboy and Randy Faulkner. Green topped the field with 779 votes, followed by Garr with 737 votes, Bomboy with 700 votes and Faulkner with 676 votes.
Also in Ward 3, Democratic newcomer Emma Hawkins defeated Republican newcomer Dale Schlegel, Jr. by a vote of 786-703 to win a two-year term.
“I am so incredibly proud of my community for showing out yesterday,” said Hawkins in a statement. “I was lucky enough to have spent most of the day volunteering at the polls talking through issues with my constituents. This gave me just a taste of the joyful candor I hope to bring to the council, and I am beyond eager to begin my work in Perkasie. Thank you to the fine folks of Ward 3!”
“It has been an honor to serve with great leaders on our campaign team and Borough council,” said Bomboy in a statement. “We wish the new team coming in the best of luck in their new careers in public service.”
Results will remain unofficial until certified by the Bucks County Board of Elections.
