At the May 22 Central Bucks Regional Police Commission meeting, two notable moments highlighting excellence and growth within local law enforcement took place.
Officer Kate Peffall of the New Britain Township Police Department received a Merit Commendation presented by Central Bucks Regional Police Chief Karl Knott.
The commendation recognized Peffall’s exemplary response to a barricaded subject incident in Doylestown Borough in April 2025, police said.
A trained negotiator, Peffall’s approach exemplified effective crisis intervention, prioritizing the safety and well-being of all involved, according to police.
By skillfully balancing de-escalation techniques with public safety concerns, Peffall demonstrated a commitment to service that brings credit not only to the Central Bucks Regional Police Department and New Britain Township Police Department, but also to herself, police said. Central Bucks Regional commended her actions are a testament to the critical role of negotiation skills in modern policing.
On the same evening, the Commission welcomed Officer Rhiannon Browne as she was sworn in as a full-time Police Officer.
Browne’s academic achievements include both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Criminal Justice, graduating cum laude from West Chester University in 2021. She continued her law enforcement training by earning her ACT 120 certification from the Temple University Municipal Police Academy.
Browne’s dedication to public service is already evident through her prior roles as a part-time officer in Dublin Borough and as a full-time Deputy Sheriff since 2023.
The evening’s events showcased the department’s commitment to both recognizing outstanding service and welcoming new talent, reflecting a strong and capable force dedicated to community safety.
