A Philadelphia man who was residing at a Hilltown Township home has been arrested and charged with felony statutory sexual assault and other child sex crimes for allegedly having sexual contact with a Quakertown Borough girl under 16 years old in September 2024.
Rodney Bass, 36, was charged May 21 by police with the statutory sexual assault charge, as well as felony charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault of a victim under 16, and corruption of minors, and misdemeanor indecent assault, according to charging documents.
On Sept. 19, 2024, detectives at Quakertown Police were informed of an allegation of sexual assault occurring over an extended period of time at a borough home. Investigators interviewed the teenage victim at St. Luke’s Upper Bucks Hospital, police said.
During the interview, the victim told police she had been in a sexual relationship with an adult man for more than a year, identified as Bass, according to the complaint. The victim told police the sex was consensual and occurred on multiple occasions, including two days prior to the police interview, police said.
The same day, at 10:08 p.m., police responded to a home in Hilltown Township and spoke to Bass, where it was determined he was 35 years old at the time of the alleged statutory sexual assault, detectives allege.
Bass is jailed in Bucks County jail on 10% of $500,000 cash bail, set at arraignment on May 21 by Magisterial District Judge Lisa J. Gaier. A preliminary hearing is set for June 5 at 12:30 p.m. before Gaier. No attorney information is available for Bass.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
