One half of a Burlington, New Jersey couple has admitted to shoplifting more than $3,000 from the Warrington Ulta, twice, over a two-week period during the holiday season and was sentenced to three to six months in Bucks County jail.
Janesha Edith Pickett, 34, pleaded guilty last week to felony retail theft and receiving stolen property, and associated conspiracy charges, according to court documents. Pickett was also given three years’ probation, and ordered to pay back $3,412.91 at $75 per month, have no contact with Ulta, undergo mental health treatment, and find full-time employment within 30 days of release from jail, according to court documents.
Pickett’s alleged accomplice in both theft cases – Darryl Alexander, 64 – was initially charged with four felony counts each of retail theft and receiving stolen property, but one receiving stolen property and associated conspiracy charge were withdrawn at a preliminary hearing in March. He has a pre-trial hearing set for June 2 in Bucks County court.
Police responded to the 1561 N. Main St. beauty shop on both occasions for a reported theft in progress.
On Dec. 9, Pickett and Alexander allegedly concealed $3,412.91 worth of product and exited the store without paying. They left the scene prior to police arrival.
On Dec. 23, they were back again, this time allegedly concealing $3,083.74 worth of merchandise and exited the store again without paying, police said.
Officers were able to identify Pickett and issued two warrants for her arrest, police said.
She was eventually arrested on Dec. 23 in Atlantic County, New Jersey, and transported back to Pennsylvania, where she was arraigned Jan. 29, according to authorities.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
