The Bucks County Community College Foundation (BCCCF) is delighted to announce the overwhelming success of its 18th Annual “Salute to Mothers Scholarship Tea” held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at the scenic Tyler Gardens on the Newtown campus. This year’s event marked a milestone, with a sold-out crowd of over 260 attendees, the highest attendance in the event’s history, and raised $21,000 to support scholarships for student mothers in the upcoming academic year.
The afternoon’s elegant gathering featured gourmet tea sandwiches, delightful desserts, and live entertainment by renowned violinist Claudia Pellegrini. Attendees also embraced the Kentucky Derby theme by showcasing their most stylish springtime hats in a festive atmosphere of camaraderie and generosity.
Thanks to the support of generous sponsors, including Parx Casino, The First National Bank & Trust Co. of Newtown, NJM Insurance Group, Remington & Vernick Engineers, and Mignoni Jewelry, this year’s event not only sold out but also raised enough funds to support approximately 25 student mothers next year as they continue their educational journeys at Bucks County Community College. Since its inception, the “Salute to Mothers Scholarship Tea” has raised over $350,000, providing over 225 scholarships to deserving mothers.

Inspiring Stories from Scholarship Recipients
The event also featured heartfelt speech from scholarship recipient, including Renee Koepke, a recent graduate of the Paralegal Program who is now working at Dischell Bartle Dooley Law Offices, Renee shared her inspiring journey of perseverance and triumph, showcasing the profound impact of the scholarship program on their lives, further stating “The Salute to Mothers Scholarship has allowed me to pursue my passion for law while supporting my family. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community.”

Since its founding in 2007 by faculty member Betty Tsai, the “Salute to Mothers Scholarship Tea” has played a crucial role in empowering student mothers to pursue their dreams. About the Salute to Mothers Scholarship
In 2007, faculty member Betty Tsai noticed mothers struggling to raise their families while pursuing a college education, this observation was the crux that motivated Tsai to do something to help them. Since its creation, the Salute to Mothers Scholarship Tea event has now raised $330,000, representing over 225 scholarships.
