A 26-year-old Warminster man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old woman in West Conshohocken early Monday morning.
According to Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and West Conshohocken Borough Police Chief Salvatore Carfagno, Michael Dutkiewicz is charged with first-degree murder, third-degree murder, and possessing an instrument of crime following the shooting death of Alyssa Rose Wiest.
The incident occurred just after midnight Sunday. At about 12:25 a.m., West Conshohocken Police responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting in the 200 block of Moorehead Avenue. Officers arrived to find Wiest face down on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds to her torso. She was transported to Lankenau Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
A joint investigation by West Conshohocken Police and Montgomery County Detectives revealed that Wiest had been in a relationship with Dutkiewicz for the past two years. Authorities also discovered that the door to Wiest’s residence, located a few doors from where she was found, was ajar, and blood was found both inside the home and along the sidewalk leading to her body.
Evidence gathered at the scene included five projectiles recovered from both inside the residence and outside near the victim’s body.
Surveillance data from license plate readers showed Dutkiewicz’s silver Ford F-150 truck driving through the area after the shooting, according to the DA.
A neighbor reported seeing Dutkiewicz near his truck just after the incident, and the vehicle was observed leaving the area shortly thereafter, authorities allege. The data from the license plate readers confirmed the truck’s movement through Conshohocken and the surrounding area, Steele said.
Dutkiewicz turned himself in to West Conshohocken Police at noon Sunday, after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Henry J. Schireson and is being held without bail at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 27 before Magisterial District Judge Cathleen Kelly Rebar.
As of now, investigators are continuing to work on the case, but no further details have been released.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
