Prosecutors withdrew a felony charge of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse against a Bucks County man accused of having sex with a child under 13 in January 2016 at a preliminary hearing Monday, but remaining felonies of aggravated indecent assault of a child and indecent assault of a person under 13 were waived for Common Pleas Court.
Gary R. McCunney, 67, of Canary Road, formerly of East Fifth Street in Lansdale Borough, was charged last month by Warrington Police with the felonies, as well as misdemeanor corruption of minors, which was also waived for Bucks County Common Pleas Court, according to charging documents.
Police said the Warrington Police Department Criminal Investigation Division uncovered underage sex crimes allegedly committed by McCunney.
McCunney remains at Bucks County jail on 10% of $300,000 cash bail. A formal arraignment is set for June 13.

When charges are waived for court, it means the preliminary hearing was skipped, and the case is moving forward to the Court of Common Pleas. A defendant can voluntarily relinquish their right to a preliminary hearing, often in exchange for a potential reduction in charges/plea bargain.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
