The Pennridge School District is ushering in a new era of leadership with three exciting appointments aimed at enhancing the district’s operational excellence, athletics programs, and educational environment. These leadership changes reflect the district’s continued commitment to supporting students, staff, and the community. Here’s an overview of the new additions to the district's leadership team:

Chris Bogen Appointed Assistant Director of Operations

The Pennridge School District is proud to announce the appointment of Chris Bogen as the new Assistant Director of Operations. With 17 years of service at Pennridge, Bogen has developed a deep understanding of the district’s facilities and operations, making him an ideal fit for this expanded role.

Bogen began his career at Pennridge in 2008 as a 2nd Shift Custodial Supervisor and worked his way through several positions, including Facility Manager at both Pennridge High School and Seylar Elementary.

In his new position, Bogen will work alongside newly-appointed Director of Operations Craig Bramble to ensure that all district facilities remain safe, clean, and well-maintained. Bogen is passionate about fostering a culture of teamwork and accountability while maintaining high standards for safety and cleanliness across all district schools.

“We are pleased to announce Chris Bogen as Assistant Director of Operations. Chris’s years of dedicated service, deep knowledge of district facilities, and commitment to maintaining safe, efficient schools make him well-suited for this role. We look forward to his continued leadership and positive impact in this expanded capacity,” said Superintendent Angelo Berrios.

Bogen is a Perkasie resident and battalion chief with the Perkasie Fire Company.

His family-oriented passions include spending time and traveling with my wife, Kelly, and her two boys, Breck and Trey as well as cycling with Kelly and riding dirt bikes with Breck.

When he’s not helping our Operations staff, he loves watching Breck play percussion for the Pennridge North Middle School Jazz Band and drums for his rock band as well as proud to see Trey develop his talent as an aspiring artist, especially in drawing.

Henry Hunt Named Director of Athletics and Activities

The Pennridge School District is also excited to announce Henry Hunt as its new Director of Athletics and Activities.

Hunt brings over a decade of experience in athletic leadership, most recently serving as the Athletic Director at Central Bucks West High School. In his new role, Hunt will oversee all extracurricular activities and athletic programs for students in grades 6 through 12, ensuring that each program aligns with the district’s goals of fostering student involvement and excellence.

Hunt has deep local roots, having coached in the Pennridge community for many years, including stints with the Pennridge Little League, Deep Run lacrosse, and the Pennridge Greenjackets Youth Football and Cheer. His focus on building strong relationships with students, faculty, and community members will be instrumental in enhancing Pennridge’s athletic offerings.

“I am excited for this opportunity with Pennridge. With my extensive experience as an Athletic Director, I am eager to bring my leadership, program development skills, and passion for student-athlete success to the secondary schools at Pennridge,” he said. “Throughout my career, I have prioritized enhancing athletic programs, improving communication with coaches and staff, and fostering a culture of excellence. I take pride in my ability to build strong relationships with students, faculty, and the broader community to promote a positive and competitive athletic environment. The opportunity to contribute to Pennridge School District’s tradition of excellence is one that I greatly welcome.”

“We are excited to welcome Henry Hunt as Director of Athletics and Activities. Henry brings over a decade of leadership experience in secondary athletics, most recently overseeing 50 teams at Central Bucks West High School,” said Berrios. “His focus on student development, leadership, and community engagement will be an asset to Pennridge. I am confident his vision and energy will strengthen our athletics program and expand opportunities for student-athletes.”

Hunt lives in Hilltown Township with his wife, Jamie, and their two children, Olivia and Grayson, who are both students in the Pennridge School District.

Hunt is a graduate of Archbishop Ryan High School in Philadelphia and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology from West Chester University and a Master’s of Education Degree in Instructional Leadership from Neumann University.

Abram Hughes Appointed Principal of Central Middle School

In another exciting development, Abram Hughes has been named the new Principal of Central Middle School.

He is replacing Dr. Christine Cortllessa, who is retiring.

Hughes, who has served as a House Principal at Pennridge High School since 2021, has been instrumental in implementing block scheduling and supporting academic coordination at the high school level. Prior to his time at Pennridge, he worked as an Assistant Principal at Indian Valley Middle School in the Souderton Area School District.

Hughes is pursuing a Doctorate in Education at Delaware Valley University and is dedicated to fostering a positive, inclusive school culture. His vision for Central Middle School is centered on creating an environment where students feel safe, respected, and inspired to reach their full potential. He believes that academic excellence and social-emotional growth go hand-in-hand, and he is committed to helping students develop both intellectually and personally.

“My vision is to build on the current school environment where every student feels safe, valued, and inspired to reach their full potential. I am committed to fostering a culture of respect, inclusion, and continuous growth so that students, teachers, and staff are empowered to push beyond their current limits and achieve new heights,” Hughes said. “I believe that when students feel supported and respected, they are more willing to take risks, engage deeply with their learning, and grow as well-rounded individuals.

“Academic excellence is important, but so is developing character, resilience, and empathy. My goal is to create an environment where academic achievement and social-emotional growth are intertwined, supporting our students as they prepare to thrive in school and beyond,” he said.

“We are proud to appoint Abe Hughes as Principal of Central Middle School. Abe has demonstrated strong instructional leadership at Pennridge High School, where he leads academic scheduling, assessment coordination, and staff supervision,” Berrios said. “His proven track record, coupled with a student-centered approach, positions him well to lead Central Middle School with purpose and vision.”

Hughes resides with his wife, Meghan, and their three daughters, Parker, Camden, and Maisie in Bucks County. He will begin his new role at the end of the current school year.
