Man caught on camera allegedly carving swastika into Tesla identified via Planet Fitness membership, police say

A vandal caught on camera allegedly scratching a swastika into a Tesla parked at Planet Fitness in Doylestown Borough Monday morning has been identified via his gym membership and criminal charges have been filed.

Central Bucks Regional Police said that the victim parked their white Tesla SUV at the gym on Monday and noticed fresh damage to their car that appeared to be scratches in the shape of a swastika when they got home.

The victim checked cameras on the Tesla, which record around-the-clock, and video shows a man wearing a gray beanie, sweatpants, a black puffer coat with a light-colored undershirt, and carrying a blue and red bag with white stripes vandalize the car at 9:24 a.m., authorities allege.

Police said the suspect parks a silver Lexus next to the Tesla, at which time the man exists the car, ducks behind the vehicle, and scratches the symbol into the side of the car with an unknown object.

Then, the individual walks into the Planet Fitness wearing the same clothes and carrying the same bag, scans his card with the front desk staff, and proceeds into the gym, police said.

The suspect was identified by his membership card and his Pennsylvania driver’s license photo, police said.

The suspect was charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief and harassment, and summary harassment and disorderly conduct, police said.

Police did not release the name of the suspect.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
