Plumstead Township Police announced Thursday that Fisher’s ACE Hardware at 5186 Stump Road was burglarized last week and the suspect eventually stole four electric meters from the rear of a commercial building, knocking out power to several businesses.

Police said officers responded the hardware store at 4:05 a.m. March 12 for an alarm at the rear door.

Upon arrival, the responding officer saw the rear door closing and immediately secured the scene.

A subsequent search of the premises found a smashed glass front door, with a red shovel and a mechanic’s glove found nearby, police said.

A second mechanic’s glove was found on table inside the store, police said.

Cash registers and a safe in the office were not disturbed and officers cleared the building, according to investigators.

However, four electric meters were removed from the rear of the building, affecting multiple businesses in the shopping center, police said.

Homeowners in the Lantern Ridge development who have outdoor security cameras are urged to turn over footage captured on the morning of the incident, as footage could feature the suspect and their vehicle, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
