Colorcon, a global leader in film coatings, specialty excipients, controlled release formulation and development and controlled atmosphere packaging for the healthcare industry, was recently awarded silver status from EcoVadis, placing Colorcon in the top 15 percent of reporting companies for their sustainability practices.
EcoVadis is a third-party organization responsible for evaluating companies for their corporate social responsibility and environmental, social and governance practices. This structured framework enables companies to assess, score, and improve their sustainability performance across the entire supply chain. Achieving silver status signifies that Colorcon has demonstrated strong sustainability performance, ranking among the top-performing companies.
Simon Tasker, Colorcon CEO, explains: “This achievement marks a significant milestone in our efforts to drive sustainability forward. For Colorcon, this isn’t just about environmental stewardship, although that is certainly a part of it. But it’s also about people — our employees, the communities we live in and our customers. We have created a vibrant and inclusive culture at Colorcon, which strengthens our collective commitment to people and planet, thereby attracting talented professionals who share our passion and our values.”
Colorcon is committed to environmental sustainability and continues to enhance its impact through robust data collection, goal setting, and progress measurement across all areas of the business. To support their Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030, two new manufacturing facilities currently under construction will operate using renewable energy.
By collaborating closely with suppliers, Colorcon aims to ensure environmentally responsible practices are adopted at every level. Equally important is the well-being of employees, both within the organization and among its suppliers.
The silver rating comes just one year after achieving bronze status.
Catherine Sorace, Colorcon’s Sustainability Director, added: “Silver recognition is a major accomplishment, and was made possible through the hard work and dedication of our employees and partners. Reaching this status is something we will celebrate as we continue to focus on our sustainability practices.”
