Hilltown Police advertises opening for full-time police officer

Hilltown Township Police is currently seeking a new police officer to join its ranks in Bucks County.

The department announced Friday that it is seeking highly-motivated and qualified individuals to join the department, which has a patrol area of 27 square miles of dense commercial, residential and rural farmland.

According to the job advertisement, the department also contracts with Silverdale Borough for police services and has for more than 30 years.

Police said the department is authorized for 19 members and three civilian personnel.

Hilltown Police is undergoing the PLEAC Accreditation process and is in process of expanding and modernizing its department.

“We offer excellent training and a wide range of specialty assignments for interested officers, including Narcotics Investigations, Crash Team, Special Response Team, MIRT, CSU, UAS, Bike Patrol and a Quality of Life Squad, plus a variety of certified instructors,” police said in the ad. “Our Patrol Division works 12-hour rotating shifts. We are seeking dedicated people to join our team to help us make a difference in our community.”

Officers get paid vacation, personal days and holidays, as well as a health care plan with dental. Hilltown offers a college tuition reimbursement plan and an education salary incentive pay. There is a retirement plan as well.

Minimum eligibility requirements include high school diploma or GED, an ACT 120 Certification or enrollment in a state-certified police academy, 21 years of age or older, a U.S. citizen, and a valid driver’s license.

Officers are required to live within 20 miles of the department within two years of hire.

The selection procedure includes an application and resume submission, then an oral board examination, followed by a background investigation and polygraph exam. Then, a medical evaluation and drug screen will follow, as well as a psychological examination.  

Interested applicants should bring their notarized application and resume with photo identification to the Hilltown Township Police Department at 13 West Creamery Road in Hilltown between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday or between 7:30 a.m. and noon on Friday.
