The days are finally getting longer, and it is time to celebrate all things Irish again. There are plenty of Saint Patrick’s Day celebrations as well as other fun activities this week in the Philadelphia region.


In the city, Irish dancing and music will be center stage at the Philadelphia Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. In Upper Gwynedd, there will be a special St. Patrick’s Day Pre-K Party for your little leprechauns.


Popular band Keep the Change will be playing at W Tavern while you can see The J Duo Band at Chambers 19. There will also be live music at Crooked Eye Brewery, LLC and at Gypsy Blu this week.


St. Raphaela Center in Haverford will also be hosting a special Lenten movie night and reflection and there will be a special tour of Pennsylvania German Folk art in Historic Trappe.



Philadelphia Saint Patrick’s Day Parade


On Sunday, Mar. 16, the annual Philadelphia Saint Patrick’s Day Parade will be hitting the streets of Center City.


The celebration of Irish culture will be led by the 2025 Parade Grand Marshal Paddy Rooney. This year’s theme is “St. Patrick, Bless Those Dedicated to Serving Others!”


To kick off the day of celebration, there will be a Parade Mass at 9 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church at 20th and Locust Streets. The parade will then commence at 11 a.m. at 16th & JFK and end in front of the Art Museum at Eakins Oval.

St. Patrick’s Day Pre-K Party


On Friday, Mar. 14, the Upper Gwynedd Township Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day Pre-K Party at the Parkside Place Community Center.


You and your little leprechauns (ages 18 months to 5 years old) are invited for a morning of family fun including games, arts & crafts and snacks between 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.


Registration is required for this event. Tickets are $15 per child. The Parkside Place Community Center is located at 1 Parkside Place in North Wales. (Upper Gwynedd)




Valley Culture Special Tour 


On Wednesday, Mar. 12, at 6 p.m., Historic Trappe is hosting a Valley Culture Special Tour showcasing its current exhibition, “Valley Culture: Constructing Identity Along the Great Wagon Road.”


Curator Christopher Malone will discuss out Pennsylvania German folk art evolved as settlers moved from the Perkiomen Valley of southeastern Pennsylvania to the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.


The exhibition includes the iconic “leaping stag” cupboard painted by Johannes Spitler of Shenandoah (Now Page) County, Virginia, painted boxes by John Drissell of Bucks County, and fraktur by Durs Rudy, Jacob Gottschall and Andreas Kolb of Montgomery County.

J Duo Band at Chambers 19


On Sunday, Mar. 16, at 6 p.m. the J Duo Band will be performing at Chambers 19.


Jake Dillon and Jordan Roth of the J Duo Band are local musicians who have created their own unique Philly sound. Come check out their original music.

Eddie Taminini at Gypsy Blu


On Saturday, Mar. 15, at 8 p.m., local musician and choir director/music teacher Eddie Taminini will be performing at Gypsy Blu in Ambler.


His album, Grieving Hour, is out now.

Keep The Change Acoustic at The W Tavern


On Saturday, Mar. 15, 8 p.m., Keep The Change Acoustic will be playing at The W Tavern in Willow Grove.


Self-described as “acoustic rock n roll with attitude,” Keep The Change Acoustic features Jeff Perlman on vocals and Ricky Haldis on guitar.

Soup & Cinema: The Way


On Tuesday, Mar. 11, 5:30 p.m., St. Raphaela Center in Haverford will be hosting a special movie viewing and discussion of The Way (2010) directed by Emilio Estevez and starring his father, Martin Sheen.


The film tells the story of grieving father who finds himself on a journey of unexpected as he walks the Camino de Santiago. The discussion afterwards will be led by John Dougherty, writer of the Catholic Movie Club column at America Magazine.

Prisms Band at Crooked Eye Brewery, LLC


On Sunday, Mar. 16, 2 p.m., the Prisms Band is holding a big birthday celebration for two band members and other friends and fans at the Crooked Eye Brewery, LLC, and everyone is invited.


Prisms Band is a rock quintet from the Princeton, New Jersey area. They specialize in both original songs and covers.
