In the heart of Doylestown, a dedicated team at Eliksa Therapeutics is gearing up for an exciting and impactful event: the Plunge for Elodie 2025.
This annual fundraising initiative aims to raise vital funds and awareness for the fight against Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), a rare, debilitating genetic disorder that affects children like eight-year-old Elodie Kubik.
According to its EB fundraising site, on April 30, Eliksa’s team will take the plunge in their lab at the Pennsylvania Biotechnology Center, joining a larger community of supporters united by one common goal – to find a cure for EB.
Kubik was born in 2016 with a severe form of EB, a condition that leaves her skin incredibly fragile, causing it to blister or tear from even the slightest touch.
Despite the constant pain and discomfort she faces, she remains a bright, cheerful child with a love for princesses and a playful sense of humor. Her resilience and positive attitude have inspired countless individuals to rally together and make a difference, per the fundraising site.
The Plunge for Elodie event is a testament to her strength, and every contribution made will help advance crucial research for this rare disease.

The Plunge for Elodie event first began in 2018 in Wellesley, Massachusetts, when friends of her family decided they wanted to do more than just offer emotional support.
As they learned about EB and its profound impact on affected families, they realized that funding was desperately needed to fuel research and find treatments, according to its website.
From this realization, the Plunge was born — a fun, community-driven way to raise money and awareness for EB Research Partnership (EBRP), the largest nonprofit organization dedicated to funding research for EB.
Now, there are more than 20 Plunge locations across the world, including Japan, Australia and Canada.
The Eliksa Therapeutics’ lab plunge is part of a larger effort by EBRP, which has raised more than $60 million for EB research to date.
The funds have supported more than 140 global EB projects and contributed to the acceleration of the first FDA-approved treatment for EB.
Donations for the event will benefit the EB Research Partnership, which operates with a unique Venture Philanthropy business model, driving innovation and collaboration to push the boundaries of scientific research.
