Five Central Bucks seniors were named candidates in the 2025 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program.

Selected seniors are Saurav Bharatam, Susan Suber, and James Wan from CB East; Benjamin Fievitz from CB South; and Kaiya Crowley from CB West.

The students were honored by the district and school board at the board's Feb. 20 business meeting.

Established in 1964 to recognize and honor some of our nation's most distinguished graduating high school seniors, the U.S. Presidential Scholars program was extended in 1979 to recognize students who demonstrate exceptional talent in the visual, creative and performing arts.

In 2015, the program was again extended to recognize students who demonstrate ability and accomplishment in career and technical education fields. Each year, up to 161 students are named as presidential scholars, one of the nation's highest honors for high school students.

Candidates will learn if they are semifinalists in the program in the spring and winners will be awarded in June.
