The district and board again thank the many members of the CBSD community who attended the second town hall to discuss the future of Doyle, Kutz, and Linden Elementary schools on Feb. 27.
During the event, Superintendent Steve Yanni joined Chief Operating Officer Tara Houser and Director of Operations Kevin Spencer to share a presentation that provided updated information on the options to address the capital needs at Doyle, Kutz, and Linden and related costs and considerations.
This information included the recent decision to eliminate the option of combining Doyle, Kutz, and Linden into one school and the introduction of an option that will explore the “gutting” of Doyle and Linden to complete full internal renovations. This research will begin with a request for proposals (RFP) process. Under this exploratory option, Kutz would be renovated and the 1930s section of the building replaced.
Due to this development, the original timeline of seeking the board’s decision on the future of Doyle, Kutz, and Linden by May 2025 will not be possible considering the additional information that needs to be gathered. Expectations are now to have information in late summer/early fall. As stated during the town hall, making substantial decisions over the summer could limit public comment and input; therefore, substantive decisions are likely once the new school year begins.
After the presentation, over 40 questions were answered that were submitted prior to and during the event. These questions have been added to the project's FAQ webpage, which also includes questions and answers from the Feb. 13 Finance and Operations Committee meeting.
A video recording of the town hall is also available.
