A Philadelphia man accused of having sex with an underage Quakertown Borough girl last fall had two felonies related to the crime withdrawn at a preliminary hearing this month.
While felony charges of aggravated indecent assault of a victim under 16 and corruption of minors, and a misdemeanor charge of indecent assault, were withdrawn at a June 5 hearing against Rodney Bass, 36, the remaining felony charges of statutory sexual assault and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse were waived for Bucks County Common Pleas Court.
On Sept. 19, 2024, detectives at Quakertown Police were informed of an allegation of sexual assault occurring over an extended period of time at a borough home. Investigators interviewed the teenage victim at St. Luke’s Upper Bucks Hospital, police said.
During the interview, the victim told police she had been in a sexual relationship with an adult man for more than a year, identified as Bass, according to the complaint.
The victim told police the sex was consensual and occurred on multiple occasions, including two days prior to the police interview, police said.
The same day, at 10:08 p.m., police responded to a home in Hilltown Township and spoke to Bass, where it was determined he was 35 years old at the time of the alleged statutory sexual assault, detectives said.
Bass is jailed in Bucks County jail on 10% of $500,000 cash bail. He is represented by a public defender.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
