A Sellersville man pleaded guilty last month to robbing Wells Fargo Bank in Doylestown Borough of $32,000.
Khalil William Butler, 30, pleaded guilty to felony robbery and theft, as well as misdemeanor terroristic threats and possessing a deadly weapon, in Bucks County Common Pleas Court May 28, and was sentenced to seven to 23 months in jail, with credit for time served since Oct. 31, 2024.
Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey L. Finley also ordered Butler to have no contact with the bank at 115 W. Court St., to continue mental health treatment, to take prescribed medication, and to serve three years of probation after release, according to court documents.
Around 9 a.m. on Halloween 2024, Butler, entered the bank and told the teller that he wanted to make a cash withdrawal. He then told the employee to place his hands on the desk and lifted his shirt to display a gun.
Butler told the clerk and bank manager to get cash from the safe, police said. Butler took the money, placed it in a brown bag, and fled on a bicycle wearing a distinctive jacket.
At 9:22 a.m., police found Butler on Avenue A in Doylestown Borough and the $32,000 was in his possession.
Police recovered Butler's jacket and gun that he threw away in a recycling bin in the Westwyk Condominium neighborhood in Doylestown Township, police said.
Central Bucks Regional Police Department were assisted by Doylestown Township Police, Buckingham Township Police, New Britain Township Police, and Bucks County Sheriff's Department.
Butler had been jailed on 10% of $1 million cash bail, per court documents. He was represented by public defender Caroline Criste.
