A Warrington Township registered sex offender was sentenced to five to 10 years in state prison this month after pleading guilty to felony sexual abuse of children via child pornography, and a consecutive four to 10 years in jail on felony sexual abuse of children via dissemination of photographs and films.
Derrick Alexander Carthon Jr., 28, of the 1200 block Foal Cir, was charged with incidents related to an investigation that began on Jan. 31, 2024, and will be in prison for the next nine to 20 years.
A Warrington Township Police sergeant and a detective with the county’s DA office received a .ZIP file from X, formerly Twitter, on Jan. 30, 2024, via a Cybertip, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
The file contained account files, including a Tweet posted to the account “poundthtboy” as a status update, per the complaint. The account’s description also listed the user as “Chronic Masturbator,” “Habitual Penis Toucher,” and “Proud pervert.”
The media from the Cypertip included four movies showing boys aged between nine and 12 in various sex acts, per the complaint.
Additional information on the X account showed the date of birth and age of the account holder as 27.
Investigators used the IP address used to register and login to the social media account to find it assigned to Verizon. Verizon records showed the IP address registered to Carthon’s residence.
Police discovered the original reported account was linked to another Cybertip to another user account with the same IP address, per the affidavit. Police used registered social media account records, email address, Google accounts and phone numbers to track Carthon.
Police said the second social media account contained four child pornography movies, depicting pre-pubescent males and females engaged in various sexual activities.
A search warrant was executed at Carthon’s home on July 23, 2024 at 6:05 a.m., police said.
While knocking, authorities saw someone looking out of the second-story window next to Carthon’s bedroom. Carthon’s grandmother told police he was upstairs asleep in his bedroom, per the complaint.
Police found Carthon in his room and escorted him downstairs. He told them his phone was upstairs, but then said he was unsure where it was. Carthon told investigators his phone had no passcode, which was found to be untrue.
Carthon’s room was searched, and an iPhone was found hidden behind a baseboard heater. Carthon admitted to hiding the phone and said he was aware that the mandatory sentence for a second-time sex offender is 25 years in prison.
He had been in Bucks County jail on 10% of $250,000 cash bail. He received credit for time served since July 24, 2024, according to court documents.
Carthon was previously convicted of dissemination of child pornography, police said.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
