Bedminster Township Police launches hiring search for new officer to join community-focused department

The Bedminster Township Police Department has opened its application process to recruit a new full-time police officer, offering candidates the opportunity to join a tight-knit team of law enforcement professionals serving a largely rural community in northern Bucks County.

The department, which covers 32 square miles and serves about 7,500 residents, is seeking a motivated, ethical, and service-oriented individual who values community engagement and professionalism in policing.

The hiring process opened Monday and runs through July 20, with an anticipated start date of October 8. The candidate list is valid for two years, police said.

Interested applicants must submit a résumé in person between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the Bedminster Township Police Department headquarters, located at 3112 Bedminster Road.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 21 years old by the date of swearing in, and hold a high school diploma or GED (college degrees preferred but not required). Valid Pennsylvania driver’s licenses and Act 120 certification are required. Individuals currently in the police academy must obtain certification before appointment, and those who completed academy training within two years must pass the MPOETC certification test.

Candidates must also be able to pass psychological, medical, and drug evaluations, as well as a background check and oral board interview. Felony convictions or equivalent offenses result in automatic disqualification.

The selection process includes a résumé review, oral board interviews, background investigation (potentially including a polygraph), and final medical and psychological evaluations.
