(The following is a letter emailed to Central Bucks School District families and community from substitute Superintendent Dr. Charles Malone ahead of the summer season. The views expressed are his own and not representative of Central Bucks Now)
Dear CBSD Community,
The final school bells of the year have rung, and the last buses have left our 23 campuses: we have officially entered summer break! On behalf of the district, I thank our families, teachers, staff members, and most importantly our students for another year of excellent educational and extracurricular moments and memories in CBSD.
There is much to celebrate. From student, staff, and school achievements to an incredible range of successful events, performances, concerts and athletic endeavors to the dynamic day-to-day teaching and learning that forms the foundation for all we do, the positive impact of the CB experience on tens of thousands of residents and visitors is amazing. None of this would be possible without the investment of our entire community, and for this we are truly grateful.
Our schools are more than places for learning and growing. They are the hearts of their respective communities. This year, several schools celebrated historical milestones, including Groveland and Mill Creek each celebrating its 25th anniversary and CB South celebrating its 20th anniversary. Fundraisers led by students and staff raised thousands of dollars and donations for various charities and causes, such as The Four Diamonds Foundation, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Eagles Autism Foundation, the Kelly Anne Dolan Memorial Fund, CB’s Corinne Sikora Memorial Scholarship, Barclay’s food pantry, breast cancer research, ALS awareness, and more.
Our buildings opened their doors to the public for theater performances, concerts, sporting events, art shows, town halls, and numerous other events and programs. Thousands of students used their time and talents to serve and positively represent their communities, including by visiting assisted living facilities and hospitals, marching and performing in holiday parades and events, and organizing food and gift drives. Hundreds of students earned awards in STEM, music, writing, art, academics, athletics, and more. The list goes on; the influence of a CB education is remarkable.
There were also challenges. These remain top-of-mind and continue to be diligently addressed. Every day, we strive to strengthen our school system in the spirit of continuous improvement. The work is never done. We will always be committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of every CB student and being responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars and trust.
Through it all, we admire and appreciate the dedication of our teachers, administrators, support staff members, school board members, and every person who serves the CBSD community. We are also extremely grateful for every parent, guardian, and family member who joins us in this effort each and every year. Your involvement and support are critical to our success.
I wish everyone a wonderful and safe summer. Thank you for another incredible school year!
Sincerely,
Dr. Charles Malone
