Perkasie Borough Police are alerting residents to a recent increase in reports of minors illegally operating electric bicycles throughout the community. Authorities are urging parents and guardians to familiarize themselves with Pennsylvania’s regulations surrounding e-bikes, which are considered vehicles under state law.
According to police, individuals must be at least 16 years old to legally operate an electric bicycle. Despite common misconceptions, e-bikes are not toys—they are governed by specific laws and restrictions aimed at ensuring public safety.
Additionally, the use of electric bicycles is strictly prohibited in Perkasie Borough parks and on local bike paths.

Perkasie Police urge families to review these laws and make informed decisions to avoid citations and ensure safety in the community.
