NOVA, Bucks County’s comprehensive crime victim services agency, recently benefited from two community-driven efforts aimed at supporting its mission to assist crime victims and prevent violence, according to news releases from NOVA Bucks County.

On one front, more than 60 attendees gathered at Poco’s Comedy Cabaret in Doylestown for a “Funny Fundraiser” featuring comedian Pat O’Donnell.

The event raised more than $1,500 for NOVA, with proceeds including a portion of dining sales generously donated by Poco’s Restaurant. O’Donnell, a seasoned performer known for his high-energy act and celebrity impressions, kept the crowd laughing throughout the evening.

“We extend our heartfelt thanks to Poco’s Restaurant and Comedy Club for their generous hospitality in hosting this fundraiser, and to Pat O’Donnell for providing an unforgettable show in support of such a worthy cause,” said Penelope Ettinger, executive director of NOVA. “It gave all a chance to spend a fun evening together to benefit NOVA’s work in support of crime victims and violence prevention.”

In another act of community support, NOVA received a donation of comfort items from the Danaher Lynch Family Foundation Scholars Program and students at Our Lady of Grace Elementary School in Penndel. Items such as bubbles, coloring books, and fidget spinners were donated to aid NOVA clients — particularly children — during therapy sessions.

“Similar to NOVA, DLFF believes in investing in people,” said Kathy Shegda, director of Educational Services for Danaher Lynch Family Foundation. “DLFF’s mission is to unleash the potential of people in our community. The DLFF Scholars at Our Lady of Grace learned how one small gesture like donating comforting items to someone who experienced a traumatic experience can make a lasting impact.”

“We are deeply grateful to the Danaher Lynch Family Foundation Scholars Program and the students of Our Lady of Grace Elementary School for their thoughtful donation of comfort items for our clients,” said Jee Soo Lee, senior counselor at NOVA. “These gifts offer a sense of care and comfort to those who are navigating the emotional pain and challenges that come with being a victim of crime.”

Founded in 1974, NOVA provides support, counseling, and advocacy for victims of sexual assault and other serious crimes in Bucks County. The organization also delivers community education and prevention programs aimed at eliminating violence in society.
