Felony retail theft, receiving stolen property and associated conspiracy charges were dismissed against a Bronx, New York man accused of stealing more than $4,000 in sunglasses from the Warrington Sunglass Hut.
Charges were dismissed at a pre-trial conference against Jonaycker Eduardo Degouveia-Suarez, 25 last week, according to court records.
At the time of his arraignment in August 2024, Degouveia-Suarez had several active warrants from numerous jurisdictions. He was arrested in Bergen County, NJ and eventually extradited to Warrington Township to answer for the charges related to $4,487 in stolen sunglasses, authorities said.
In October 2024, the Bucks County Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant for his arrest for failure to appear at a Sept. 27 formal arraignment in Bucks County Common Pleas Court.
According to court documents, Degouveia-Suarez’s bail was initially set at 10% of $150,000 cash by the Magisterial District Court on July 30, then changed to 10% of $15,000 cash by the district court.
Bail was decreased by the Bucks County Common Pleas Court to 10% of $30,000 cash on Aug. 2, and Degouveia-Suarez posted $3,000 cash bail on Sept. 6, per court documents.
On June 1, police responded to the 1548 Main Street Sunglass Hut for a report of a retail theft of sunglasses, police said.
Staff told police that Degouveia-Suarez and another woman entered the store and went to the expensive sunglasses area, police said.
Degouveia-Suarez selected $4,487 worth of sunglasses and then concealed them in a bag before exiting the store without paying, per the complaint.
The defendant was represented by public defender Brandon Ingraham, according to court documents.
