Truck snags wires, snaps pole in Warrington business lot

No injuries reported; employee vehicle damaged by falling utility pole

  • Public Safety

A delivery turned chaotic in Warrington Township on Monday afternoon after a tractor-trailer struck low-hanging utility wires, snapping a nearby pole and damaging a vehicle in the process.

The incident occurred shortly before 2 p.m. in the parking lot of a business located in the 900 block of Easton Road, according to Warrington Township Police.

Authorities said the truck was attempting to make a delivery when it caught what appeared to be phone or cable lines hanging across the lot. The tension from the snag caused a utility pole connected to the building to split in half, police said.

The falling pole struck a vehicle belonging to an employee of the business. No injuries were reported.

Warrington Police and members of the Warrington Fire Company responded to the scene and remained there throughout the afternoon to assess the damage and ensure safety. Officials noted that the wires involved did not appear to be electrical in nature, police said.

As of press time, the area remained an active scene.
