The Telford Borough Council Monday, July 14 announced plans to introduce an ordinance that regulates the display of house numbers.
The ordinance will require all house numbers to be clearly visible from the public roadway. It comes as emergency personnel have struggled to locate certain addresses in the borough, said council member Robert Sparks.
Homeowners will be given a year-long grace period following the ordinance’s passage, said Sparks. He added that nighttime illumination is “desirable,” but unlikely to be required.
The ordinance will be introduced at council’s full August meeting.
Walking trail project
Borough Secretary Bryan Poster informed council members of a Planning Commission walking trail extension project. The plan adds walking trails along the western side of Main Street to the SEPTA tracks and across State Road, connecting to the Lutheran Community and the Telford Municipal Park walking trail. In addition, the East Broad Street walking trail would be extended to the borough boundary line. The project would enable eastern Telford to walk to the center of town, said Poster.
Borough events
Council highlighted some upcoming borough events, including the Indian Valley Beer Fest on July 19 from 2 to 7 p.m. and the Telford Night Market’s Christmas in July night on July 23 and Phillies night on July 30.
In addition, the Indian Valley Public Library is holding a month-long summer supply drive for Liz’s Birthday Closet, a Souderton-area charity that provides birthday toys and essentials to needy families. The drive is soliciting socks, shoes, underwear, books, shampoo, conditioner and toothpaste.
