An 18-year-old Lansdale man was caught in the act of allegedly burglarizing a Bucks County gun shop and found holding two rifles, gun magazines, ammunition, a machete, a crowbar and a knife.
Md Aman Ullah, of 100 block of South Chestnut Street, Lansdale Borough, was charged July 7 by Warminster Township Police with numerous felonies, including burglary, criminal trespassing, two counts of theft by unlawful taking, two counts of receiving stolen property, and two counts of criminal mischief-tampering with property, according to court records. Additionally, Ullah was charged with three misdemeanor counts of possessing an instrument of crime, per court documents.
On July 7, at 2:41 a.m., police responded to Bunker Gun Shop at 549 York Road to investigate an audible rear door alarm. While checking the gun shop and other stores in the strip mall, officers heard a noise in the area of the southeast corner of the building and went to investigate, police said.
There, they allegedly found Ullah, wearing all black clothing and rubber-coated gloves. He was carrying two long guns – an FN SCAR 16S multi-caliber rifle and a CMMG MK4 5.56-caliber rifle, police said.
Ullah surrendered and was taken into custody, police said. He was also allegedly in possession of gun magazines and ammunition, a hammer, machete, a knit mask and a crowbar.
During the investigation, police found the rear steel door pried open and damaged and the inner door pried open and damaged, per the complaint. A security camera was also damaged, along with other items.
A crowbar was found on the floor behind the counter, which police said was used to pry open the doors.
Ullah allegedly attempted to make entrance into the store by cutting a hole in the roof of the store, damaging the HVAC equipment of the building.
Ullah was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Christopher E. O’Neill, who set bail at 10% of $750,000 cash. However, according to court documents, the bail was reduced to 10% of $100,000 cash and Ullah posted $10,000 cash bail on Tuesday.
A preliminary hearing is been rescheduled twice to Sept. 8 at 1:15 p.m. before O’Neill. Ullah is represented by Blue Bell attorney Matthew Brittenburg.
The Lansdale defendant also has an active case in Montgomery County, where he is awaiting a Sept. 15 preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Suzan Leonard on misdemeanor terrorism, assault and harassment charges, stemming from a May 4 incident, per court records. In that case, he is represented by Brittenburg’s colleague Andew Levin and issued a summons on Wednesday.
