Two men charged in Bedminster fraud case tied to residential burglary

Investigators say credit cards stolen from unlocked garage used in Delaware; both suspects at large

Two Delaware men are facing felony fraud and identity theft charges after Bedminster Township Police say they conspired to use credit cards stolen during a June burglary in a local residential development.

According to police, the incident occurred in the early morning hours of June 4, 2025 in the Bedminster Square neighborhood near Dublin Pike and Croft Drive. Authorities said an individual or individuals entered an unlocked garage and residence, stealing three vehicle key fobs and two men’s wallets.

A multi-agency investigation involving Bedminster Police, Pennsylvania State Police, and Hilltown Township Police led to charges against Walter Francis Lafferty, 36, and Kyle Barrett, 34, both with last known addresses in Wilmington and Newark, DE, respectively. Authorities said the pair used the stolen credit cards to make purchases in New Castle and Newark.

Lafferty is charged with felony access device fraud, conspiracy to commit fraud, identity theft, conspiracy to commit identity theft, receiving stolen property, and conspiracy to receive stolen property. Barrett faces felony charges of conspiracy to commit access device fraud, identity theft, and receiving stolen property.

Both men currently have active warrants for their arrest. Police said the investigation into who is responsible for the actual burglary and theft from the vehicles remains ongoing.

Bedminster Police thanked Pennsylvania State Police, Hilltown Township Police, and asset protection personnel at Lowe’s and Walmart for their assistance in the investigation.
