A Warminster man wanted since October 2024 on numerous felonies related to the explosion of a methamphetamine laboratory in his bedroom was nabbed last month by the United States Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force in Philadelphia.
Jason A. Nunez, 43, of the 700 block of Lillian Lane, was charged last fall by Warminster authorities with two felony counts of operating a meth lab and illegal dumping of methamphetamine waste, felony possessing liquified ammonia gas, felony possession with intent to deliver meth, and felony risking a catastrophe, per court documents. Nunez is also charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of a counterfeit controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, recklessly endangering another person (three counts), and possession of drug paraphernalia, per court documents.
On May 21, 2024, Warminster Police and Warminster Fire responded to 785 Lillian Lane for a report of a dwelling fire.
Upon arrival, the officer and the fire company found the house in a smoky condition and odor of burnt plastics, police said. Officers reported that, while checking the home to make sure no one was inside, they encountered Nunez coming up the stairs from the basement, according to the complaint.
Police asked Nunez if anyone else was home, and he said no one else was there, but he was looking for the main water valve to the home, according to the affidavit. After the fire was out, Nunez fled the area, police said.
Officers spoke to residents who stated that in Jason Nunez's basement room, they heard banging, then Nunez was attempting to extinguish a fire in the downstairs bathroom, according to police. One resident checked the basement and found flames coming from the bathroom, and Nunez splashing water on the fire to put it out, police said.
Nunez told the roommate that he was trying to clean when the fire started, according to the complaint.
The Warminster Fire Marshal responded and advised fire possibly started as a result of someone's failed illicit drug-making process.
A search warrant was obtained by Warminster Police and Pennsylvania State Police Clandestine Meth Lab team responded, police said. Pennsylvania State Police Lab team issued a report stating, “Most ingredients and supplies used in the clandestine manufacture of methamphetamine via the one-pot method were present.”
The fire marshal found illicit drug lab materials, including Coleman camp fuel, Drano, lithium batteries, ephedrine, pseudophedrine, salts, sulfuric acid and a soda bottle, police said.
A warrant for the arrest of Jason Nunez was issued by the Magisterial District Judge Chris O'Neill on October 28, 2024. At the time, Nunez was wanted out of Philadelphia for failure to appear at a hearing on drug charges, police said.
On June 16, 2025, the United States Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force located Nunez in a residence in Philadelphia and brought him back to Warminster, police said.
Nunez was arraigned before O'Neill and was remanded to Bucks County correctional facility on 10% of $75,000 cash bail, according to court documents. A preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 4 at 1:30 p.m. before O’Neill.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
