Already locked into a Region 2 berth as Bux-Mont regular season champions, Quakertown showed it still has plenty of fight, earning a dramatic 6-5 walk-off victory over Doylestown on Saturday at Memorial Park Stadium.
According to The Mercury, Cole Reich delivered the final blow, ripping an RBI double to left in the bottom of the seventh to score Gerry Stanziola and send the Blue Jays into Sunday night’s winner’s bracket final against red-hot Chal-Brit, per the report. Reich had a dominant day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs, and two runs scored.
Quakertown jumped out to a 5-1 lead after two innings, thanks to early RBI hits from Reich, Cooper Natisin, Nick DePiero, and Gunnar Rahn. Natisin also turned in a solid outing on the mound, allowing three runs over five innings.
After Doylestown clawed back to tie the game at 5 in the seventh, Quakertown answered quickly. Stanziola led off with a single and scored the game-winner on Reich’s double. The victory keeps the Blue Jays unbeaten in the double-elimination bracket as they pursue the Bux-Mont title before heading to Regionals.
