A 62-year-old New Jersey man died after suffering a medical emergency while riding his bicycle on a Saturday evening in New Britain Township last month, according to police and county officials.
The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on June 28 near St. Jude Church, located along the 300 block of West Butler Avenue.
According to New Britain Township Police Chief Richard Clowser, the man collapsed on the side of the road after reportedly getting off his bicycle. Witnesses nearby attempted to help and initiated medical aid until emergency personnel arrived.
Responders from Chal-Brit EMS were dispatched to the scene and remained until the Bucks County Coroner’s Office arrived at about 6:30 p.m., Clowser said. Despite those efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was later identified by the Bucks County Coroner's Office as Michael Bogut, of Brooklawn, NJ. The coroner’s office determined that Bogut died of cardiovascular disease, and the manner of death was classified as natural.
No foul play is suspected, and authorities confirmed the incident was not traffic-related.
Out of respect for the family, police initially withheld the man’s identity. The investigation has since concluded.
