A Doylestown man is accused of shoplifting more than $200 in items from Target, including Nicorette gum, flash drives, headphones, and a Phillips-Norelco shaver.

Oliver Spencer Chapman, 46, of the 200 block of Hastings Court, Doylestown, was charged this month with felony retail theft and misdemeanor charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, according to court documents.

On Jan. 13, at 5:25 p.m., Central Bucks Regional Police were called to Target at 456 N. Main St. in Doylestown Borough for a retail theft in progress, according to the affidavit. An asset protection officer reported that a man with a beard, gray beanie hat, black jacket, gray shoes and jeans was walking around the store and placing items inside a backpack, police said.

Upon arrival, police met with asset protection and security, who had the suspect, identified as Chapman, on security camera in the store.

Police said the Heyday-brand backpack Chapman was wearing belonged to Target and Chapman allegedly took it off the wall and proceeded to use it as a shopping bag.

Chapman allegedly stole two sets of JLabs headphones, two Sandisk 128GB flash drives, a Philips Norelco shaver, and Nicorette chewing tablets.

Police said they watched on surveillance as Chapman took the headphones and the shaver and then proceeded to leave the store. He was stopped by police outside Target, per the complaint. All in all, the total cost of stolen items was $235.32, police said.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
