A New York man who was wanted for nearly a year on felony fraud and theft charges had all offenses held for arraignment next month in Bucks County Common Pleas Court after a preliminary hearing on Monday.
Rahson Govantes, 27, of Cambria Heights, was arrested on Jan. 2 by New Jersey State Police in Warren County during a traffic stop, police said. He was wanted by Warrington Township Police on felony charges of access device fraud, theft by deception and receiving stolen property offenses in an alleged credit card fraud scheme, authorities allege.
On Jan. 16, 2024, a resident of the 400 block of Costner Drive contacted police and reported receiving a credit card statement in the mail from Lowe’s for $8,957.95, police said.
The victim informed police they did not make any purchases. An investigation revealed Govantes as the suspect, police said, and a warrant was subsequently issued.
Govantes allegedly shopped at numerous Lowe’s locations from Pottstown, Montgomery County to Lancaster, Berks County.
After being arrested Jan. 2, he was taken to Warren County jail until Jan. 10, when he was picked up by Bucks County Sheriffs, police said.
Govantes is free on 10% of $25,000 cash bail, per court records. He will be arraigned in county court Feb. 28.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
