One of three men accused of conspiring together to shoplift from TJ Maxx in Warrington Township has been arrested in New York.
Carlos Chung-Sanchez was arrested on New Year’s Eve and was picked up by the Bucks County Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 15, police said. He is charged with felony counts of retail theft, conspiracy to commit retail theft and receiving stolen property, per charging documents.
His two alleged accomplices are still at large and have warrants for their arrest: Hector Ruiz and Hector Oquendo-Hernandez.
On May 1, 2024, an officer on patrol saw suspicious activity from three people leaving the store at 1035 Main Street, police said. A follow-up investigation with loss prevention and surveillance footage showed the three working as a team to select numerous items for sale and deactivate the security devices, police said.
The three then concealed the merchandise in bags and left the store, shoplifting $219.91 in items, police said.
Chung-Sanchez was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Stacy Wertman, who set bail at 10% of $50,000 cash, per court documents. He posted bail on Jan. 16 and has a preliminary hearing set for Jan. 27 at 9 a.m. before Wertman.
