A Philadelphia woman has been charged with receiving stolen property after allegedly keeping a blue 2024 Ford Edge SUV belonging to Enterprise Rent-A-Car with no intention of returning it, revealed during a Richland Township traffic stop earlier this month.

Jasmine Nichole Sloan aka Jasmine Nichole Gresham, 34, of Philadelphia, also faces a charge of misdemeanor unauthorized use of a car, according to court documents.

On Jan. 4 at 2:45 p.m., Richland Township Police received a hit on an Automatic License Plate Reader on northbound Route 309 in Hilltown Township for a Florida registration attached to the SUV, which was reported stolen by Springettsbury Township Police in York County, PA, according to the complaint.

Police waited near the area of Lapp Structures at 1111 S. West End Blvd./Route 309 and waited for the SUV to pass, according to the report. When the SUV did pass police, they followed the SUV, allegedly driven by Sloan, police said.

Additional police vehicles arrived on scene and Sloan was pulled over in the parking lot of Yum Yum Bakery on South West End Boulevard. Sloan was taken into custody and she told police she was the original vehicle renter, per the complaint.

Sloan said she had the vehicle for several months and due to several major life issues was unaware of when the SUV was supposed to be returned, police said.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
