Warrington Township Police have announced the arrest of a New York man who has been wanted nearly a year on felony access device fraud, theft by deception and receiving stolen property offenses in an alleged credit card fraud scheme.
Rahson Govantes, 27, of Cambria Heights, was arrested on Jan. 2 by New Jersey State Police in Warren County during a traffic stop, police said.
On Jan. 16, 2024, a resident of the 400 block of Costner Drive contacted police and reported receiving a credit card statement in the mail from Lowe’s for $8,957.95, police said.
The resident informed police they did not make any purchases. An investigation revealed Govantes as the suspect, police said, and a warrant was subsequently issued.
Govantes allegedly shopped at numerous Lowe’s locations from Pottstown, Montgomery County to Lancaster, Berks County.
After being arrested Jan. 2, he was taken to Warren County jail until Jan. 10, when he was picked up by Bucks County Sheriffs, police said.
Govantes was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Stacy Wertman, who set bail at 10% of $25,000 cash, per court records. He was remanded to Bucks County jail after failing to post bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 28 at 9 a.m. before Wertman.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
