A Hatboro woman with two prior shoplifting convictions in Upper Moreland and Warminster townships has been charged by Warminster Police with felony retail theft and receiving stolen property for stealing $71 in groceries from Weis.
Florence Beverly Keller, 64, of the 400 block of Jefferson Avenue, was detained by Weis Food Market loss prevention on Dec. 31 at 12:50 p.m. at the 1133 York Road store, according to charging documents.
Upon arrival, loss prevention told police they were working on foot detail within the store, when they observed Keller, a known retail theft offender, walking with a cart containing a reusable bag full of food, police said.
Loss prevention followed Keller, who continued to placed items from shelves directly into the reusable bag, police allege. Keller then continued to walk past all registers and out of the store, before being stopped at the exit by loss prevention and detained, according to the complaint.
All in all, a total of $71.68 in groceries were stolen, police allege, including Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Corn Pops, milk, various chips and Doritos, and loaves of bread.
Keller was arrested, arraigned and released on $2,500 unsecured bail, according to court records. A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 13 at 2 p.m. before Magisterial District Judge John T. Galloway.
