A Northampton Township, Bucks County woman has been accused of stealing a laptop, printer and keys from her former employer, a homeless shelter in Doylestown Borough.
Nicole Buckley Mormello, 50, of the 30th block of Creek Road, Churchville, was charged by Central Bucks Regional Police with three felony counts each of theft by unlawful taking, theft of leased property, and receiving stolen property, stemming from a Feb. 12 incident, police said.
On or around Oct. 25, 2024, Mormello suddenly resigned from her position with Coalition to Shelter and Support the Homeless (CSSH), located at 196 W. Ashland St. in Doylestown Borough, police said. Prior to her resignation, Mormello was provided with a brand new HP Pavilion laptop, a brand new HP color Laserjet printer, keys to the shelter’s storage facility and stationery items with a business letterhead, according to the complaint.
CSSH’s board president attempted to contact Mormello several times via phone, email, a letter from an attorney, and a certified letter, but she allegedly did not respond to any form of communication requesting she return the equipment that belong to CSSH, according to the affidavit.
Central Bucks Regional authorities requested Northampton Township Police respond to Mormello’s home, which they did successfully, police said.
Mormello allegedly admitted to having the laptop, printer and keys in her possession to police. She was given instructions on how to return the property to CSSH, but she allegedly made no attempt to return the items or contact her former employer.
Mormello was arraigned Feb. 19 and bail was set at $10,000 unsecured by Magisterial District Judge Mark D. Douple, according to court records. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 10 at 2:30 p.m. before Douple.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
