The celebratory Super Bowl parade for the Philadelphia Eagles turned violent when gunfire erupted.

Police are investigating a double shooting that took place near the 2300 block of Ben Franklin Parkway outside the parade footprint around 2:35 p.m.

Two women were injured outside the parade area. A 27-year-old Hispanic woman sustained a gunshot wound to her left leg, while a 20-year-old Asian woman was shot in the upper left thigh. Both were transported to Presbyterian Hospital and are in stable condition.

Police sources told FOX 29 that a fight erupted, leading to gunfire that struck the two victims.

Authorities have not yet identified a crime scene or recovered a weapon. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Philadelphia Police Department.

More than one million people lined the parade route from South Philadelphia all the way to the Art Museum. The majority of those folks were jammed together near the museum to see the players and coaches speeches from the steps of the museum.

The shooting comes one year after a shooting at the Super Bowl parade in Kansas City in which one person was killed, 22 were injured by gunshots, and an additional 18 were injured with non-gunshot-related injuries.

Two adults and two juveniles were charged in that shooting.
