Plane crashes upside-down in gravel lot shortly after takeoff from Doylestown Airport Monday morning

A two-seat fixed-wing single-engine plane crashed upside-down in a gravel lot on the 3800 block of Old Easton Road in Buckingham Township shortly after takeoff from Doylestown Airport Monday morning after its engine stalled. 

According to emergency dispatch reports, there are no injuries. 

Doylestown Fire Co., Central Bucks EMS and Buckingham Police responded to the scene.

According to FAA registration, the aircraft belongs to William Wright, out of Holland, Pa.

In a news release Monday, Buckingham authorities said the male pilot was able to exit the plane on his own, without injuries. 

The pilot reported mechanical issues shortly after takeoff and was attempting to return to the airport, police said. The pilot attempted to make an emergency landing, police said.

The investigation has been turned over to the FAA and the Buckingham Township Fire Marshal.
