A plan to open a new gym in East Rockhill has officially been withdrawn.
The East Rockhill Board of Supervisors Tuesday, December 18 approved the withdrawal of the proposed new Metal Health Fitness gym at 400 Branch Road. Owner Shane Dam sought to relocate the gym from its current West Rockhill location to the East Rockhill site, which currently houses an old automobile property. The board granted Dam preliminary land development in April 2024.
At Tuesday’s meeting, township manager Marianne Morano announced that the property sale was not approved. She added that the owner will not be accepting any additional offers.
School bus stop
The board discussed an inquiry into the relocation of a school bus stop in the Stone Edge Road housing development due to a residents’ safety concerns. Township solicitor Will Oetinger said the move would require PennDOT to ascertain traffic speeds, student heights and additional details.
Members agreed that the matter falls under the purview of the school district. Supervisor Dave Nyman committed to raising the issue at the next Pennridge Area Coordinating Committee to the school board’s PACC liaison.
The board also eliminated a fee for farming township property, suggested the installation of railings on the bridges at Markey Park and floated a proposal to allow township employees to opt out of municipal health insurance.
The next East Rockhill Board of Supervisors meeting is on January 27 at 7 p.m. For more information, visit eastrockhilltownship.org
