Bucks Recorder of Deeds warns of 'predatory' mailers

To combat potential scams, the office has a free fraud alert system available to the public

  • Bucks County

Bucks County Recorder of Deeds Dan McPhillips is warning local homeowners of a “predatory practice” involving deceptive post cards targeting property owners.

The alert was issued after a resident reported receiving a postcard that appeared to be from “County Deed Records” and the “Home Warranty Division.”

McPhillips’ office said they are not associated with the mailing and did not issue the post card.

“While we cannot legally stop these companies, we try to spread the word about them,” the Bucks County Recorder of Deeds office said in a statement.

To combat potential scams, the office has a free fraud alert system available to the public.

Property owners can register for the service through Landex, the company responsible for recording deeds for the county.

The system allows residents to sign up using their name or parcel number.

Once enrolled, Landex will notify the owner any time a document is recorded against their property or name within the Recorder of Deeds office.

Registration for the alert system is available online at Landex.com/recordalert/bucks.

Officials advised residents who are concerned about their property status to contact the office directly at 215-348-6209.
