(The following press release was provided verbatim by the Pennsylvania Lottery)
The Powerball® jackpot continues its historic run, ready to deliver the ultimate gift this Christmas Eve – a chance to win a whopping jackpot worth $1.7 billion or $781.3 million cash in for the next drawing Wednesday.
Wednesday’s jackpot ranks as the fourth largest in the Powerball® game and among U.S. lottery jackpots.
This current jackpot run is already delivering gifts to seniors of Pennsylvania; having generated more than $124 million in sales, creating a profit of more than $49 million to benefit older Pennsylvanians.
Although there were no jackpot winners, three winning Powerball® tickets were sold in Pennsylvania in the Monday, December 22 drawing, that are worth a combined total of $1.2 million. This includes the following winning tickets:
Congratulations to 7-Eleven, 1483 West Street Road, Warminster Township, Bucks County, for selling the $1 million-winning Powerball® ticket. The ticket matched five of the five white balls drawn, 3-18-36-41-54, to win $1 million, less applicable withholding. The retailer will earn a $5,000 bonus for selling the ticket.
The Lottery is also congratulating ACME Markets, 2301 Pasqualone Boulevard, Bensalem Township, Bucks County, and Junior’s Convenience Store, 303 George St., Throop Boro, Lackawanna County, for selling the $100,000-winning Powerball® with Power Play® tickets. Each winning ticket matched four of the five white balls drawn, 3-18-36-41-54, and the red Powerball® 7 to win $100,000, less applicable withholding.
Without the $1 Power Play® option, the tickets would have been worth $50,000 each. The Power Play® multiplier drawn was two. These retailers will each earn a $500 bonus for selling the tickets.
More than 239,000 other PA Lottery Powerball® tickets won prizes of various amounts in the drawing, including more than 49,500 tickets purchased with Power Play® and more than 24,200 tickets purchased with Double Play®. Players should check every ticket, every time.
Pennsylvania Lottery games, such as Powerball®, continue to create life-changing moments for winners, and these moments are stories worth celebrating. Lucky winners of $10,000 or more are encouraged to reach out to the Lottery to share their winning story and join the thousands of other winners in the Winners’ Circle.
Winners are not known until prizes are claimed and tickets are validated. Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball® winners have one year from the drawing date to claim prizes. Winning tickets purchased at a Lottery retailer should immediately be signed on the back. Online winnings automatically appear in a player’s account after the claim has been processed. Players may visit palottery.com for more information about how to file a claim.
Pennsylvania Lottery players have options to purchase their Powerball® tickets online or by visiting a retailer. Players can find lottery-selling locations closest to them by visiting the Find a Retailer section of the Lottery’s website.
The Lottery is also reminding players that it is participating in the National Council on Problem Gambling’s annual Gift Responsibly Campaign. This campaign raises awareness that Lottery products are not appropriate gifts for children and encourages responsible gifting during the holiday season.
