High winds on Friday evening wreaked havoc and kept first responders busy across Montgomery and Bucks counties, with a High Wind Warning from the National Weather Service in effect through 10 p.m.

During the warning period, winds out of the west and southwest are sustained at 20–30 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph expected, posing risks for downed limbs, power lines, and difficult travel conditions.

Forecasters describe the ongoing pattern as blustery and much colder than recent days, with winds remaining elevated overnight as temperatures drop into the low 20s. Wind gusts continuing after sunset may still reach 30–45 mph, making outdoor conditions feel significantly colder than the actual air temperature.

As of 6 p.m., Montgomery County's WEBCad Active Incidents, there were more than 30 fire incidents and more than 20 traffic incidents across Montgomery County.

Here is a snapshot of what was going down around 6 p.m. Friday:

Electrical fires and fire police responses
Fire units responded to multiple electrical fire reports outside in the region, including in Lower Providence on Woodland Ave and Montgomery Township on Welsh Rd. Volunteer fire police were also being requested for support in Worcester Township at Kriebel Mill and Heebner roads, and for an electrical fire outside in Limerick on Township Line Road.

Road obstructions and crashes
There were several road obstruction incidents scattered through township streets, including Lower Frederick at Main Street and Fulmer Road, Whitpain at Township Line and Narcissa roads, and Upper Dublin at Twining Road and Ayr Ln, where debris or stalled vehicles are blocking travel.

Vehicle accidents were active in the region as well, including reports on Whitpain’s Skippack Pike, Cheltenham at Washington Lane and Ashbourne Road, where a tree fell on an occupied vehicle, trapping a driver, and in Upper Moreland at Summit Ave & Easton Road.

Fire investigations and fire police requests
Additional responses include fire police requests and fire investigation details in Abington on Highland Avenue and support needed in segments of Lower Gwynedd at Evans Road, as stations coordinate multiple calls countywide.
