The New Britain Food Pantry is looking for a new location after more than three decades in its current home, with its director asking the community to help identify a suitable space before the pantry’s existing arrangement ends in 2026.
According to the Bucks County Herald, Pantry Director Cindy Field said the pantry needs to relocate by September 2026 and is seeking at least 4,000 square feet within the Central Bucks School District.
The preferred space would be on the ground floor and include room for a walk-in freezer, with Field saying the goal is to find a larger site that is convenient for the New Britain and Chalfont communities, per the report.
Field said the move stems from a change in the status of the New Britain Baptist Church building, which was transferred to Grace Church of Doylestown in August 2024.
With the Baptist church dissolving, the pantry began the process of separating from Grace Church and becoming its own nonprofit, Field said. A one-year lease arrangement followed and is set to expire in September, prompting the search for a new home, according to the article.
The pantry will remain open until September 2026 and is currently overseen by about 30 active volunteers. Rent could be a burden in the future, Fields told the Herald.
Those who may know of appropriate space were asked to contact Guido Iammatteo at [email protected].
The pantry is located at 22 E. Butler Ave. in New Britain Borough.
