An East Rockhill Township man convicted 11 years ago of credit card theft pleaded guilty to felony counts of theft and receiving stolen property during a negotiated plea in Bucks County court on Thursday, was sentenced to time served to 23 months max, and given immediate parole, after admitting to stealing $38,000 in tools from a Snap-On truck.

Charles Joseph Campbell Jr., 56, was originally charged by Pennridge Regional Police with three felony counts each of theft and receiving stolen property, three misdemeanor charges of theft from a motor vehicle, and summary criminal mischief, according to court records.

On Aug. 14, 2023, police responded to B.R. Scholl & Sons garage located at 2301 N. Fifth Street in East Rockhill for a reported theft of nearly $38,000 in tools from a Snap On Tool truck parked in the lot, police said.

Campbell entered the vehicle on three separate occasions on the night of Aug. 13, 2023, removing merchandise, police said.

During the course of the thefts, Campbell injured himself and left blood behind on the vehicle, police said. Officers conducted a DNA swab of the blood evidence left behind, and Campbell’s DNA was found to be on the vehicle.

Campbell was arrested in July 2014 for stealing credit cards belonging to a baseball umpire from a car parked at School Road Park in Hatfield Township and then used them to buy items in Hatfield and Towamencin townships. He was eventually sentenced to 11 ½ to 23 months in jail on his birthday.

According to court documents, Campbell was released on immediate parole for time served from Nov. 19 to Dec. 26, 2024.

Campbell was represented by Philadelphia attorney Robert Trimble.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
