TMA Bucks is promoting a regional ride-sharing database as SEPTA service cuts take effect and more are planned.

SEPTA bus service reductions began this week, with Regional Rail cuts scheduled to start next week as the transit agency faces a $213 million deficit as lawmakers in Harrisburg have failed to make a deal.

TMA Bucks is sharing information about the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission’s (DVRPC) Share-A-Ride program, a free online service designed to help commuters find alternatives such as carpooling, vanpooling, and other transit connections.

The organization said the service can help commuters reduce stress, save money, cut travel time, and lessen traffic congestion.

“Now more than ever, Bucks County commuters need dependable and flexible ways to get where they need to go,” said Stephen Noll, executive director of TMA Bucks. “With SEPTA service reductions creating real challenges for families and workers, the Share-A-Ride program offers a practical solution that keeps our community moving and helps everyone stay connected to their jobs, schools, and daily lives.”

The Share-A-Ride web platform, which is available at https://sharearide.agilemile.com/tmabucks, includes a trip planner that can identify options for daily commutes, including public transit and biking.

The program also offers incentives for users. Commuters who sign up and record their trips can earn points redeemable for gift card drawing entries, restaurant coupons, retailer discounts, and tickets to shows and attractions. Users can also set up recurring trips to be automatically recorded.

The Share-A-Ride app is available for download on iOS and Android devices.
