An East Greenville woman who worked as a Pennridge School District special education teacher will face charges of felony endangering the welfare of children and misdemeanor assault in Bucks County Common Pleas Court for an incident that occurred at West Rockhill Elementary School in April 2025.

Jessica Lynn Bergey, 41, is free on $100,000 unsecured bail, following a waiver of her preliminary hearing Monday before Magisterial District Judge Gary Gambardella.

Bergey was an autistic support teacher who was put on leave in April from the school, according to an April 17 letter sent to parents from the district.

According to Bucks County Courier Times, the letter did not state Bergey’s reason for leave; it is unclear if the leave is related to the criminal charges. Pennridge Regional Police began an investigation into Bergey on April 24 after a ChildLine report, according to the Courier Times.

Parents Dana and Dan Kingkiner reached out to CentralBucksNow regarding Bergey’s charges. Dan Kingkiner protested daily outside the elementary school, where his son was an autistic nonverbal student of Bergey’s, they said.

Kingkiner pulled his son out of Bergey’s class late last year, due to increasing changes in his behavior.

According to the Courier Times, district officials have not shared the reason for the leave with parents.

Pennridge School District may have violated the Sunshine Act, as the Courier Times found no proof that administrators added Bergey’s leave to its recent school board agendas, either by name or anonymity.

Bergey is represented by Philadelphia attorney Matthew Sedacca

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
